Job Description

The Ion endoluminal system is Intuitive's robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. In this role, you will work as part of Ion’s Digital and Data software team to design and implement full-stack cloud-based applications, with an emphasis on application security.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their requirements and provide solutions that align with our company's mission and objectives.
  • Develop cloud-based applications across the full stack, from frontend components to backend APIs and services, with an emphasis on application security.
  • Utilize best practices for cloud services, including serverless computing, containerization, and microservices architecture.
  • Conduct security reviews for authentication flows, API integrations, and data ingestion pipelines.
  • Define and implement security best practices in collaboration with Dev Ops, including IAM roles, secure VPC design, and TLS management.
  • Work hands-on to identify and fix security issues found during code reviews and security assessments.
  • Implement security scanning and dependency management tooling in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Manage and triage findings throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality software.
  • Collaborate with the QA team to develop and maintain automated testing procedures.
  • Document software designs, configurations, and code to facilitate knowledge transfer within the team.

Qualifications

Required Education, Skills & Experience

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience as a full stack engineer with experience in application security
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as React, Node.js, Python, and similar
  • Experience with implementing and securing REST APIs
  • Experience with AWS resources including IAM, WAF, VPC
  • Proficient with tools for dependency and container scanning
  • Experience integrating with authorization protocols like OAuth
  • Understanding of databases and data storage solutions (e.g., SQL, NoSQL)
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Solid grasp of secure development best practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of security best practices, especially in healthcare and sensitive data environments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of MedTech industry standards and regulations, such as ISO 13485 or IEC 62304
  • Experience with building and securing APIs that interface with embedded applications and edge devices
  • Familiarity with data formats and communication protocols used in embedded systems
