Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
The primary objective of an Engineering Technician Supervisor is to provide troubleshooting, testing, repairs, equipment maintenance and MRB evaluation services to systems manufacturing line meeting Quality and productivity goals within manufacturing. This person would lead a team of engineering technicians to achieve team performance goals in the areas of Failure Analysis, First Pass Yield and MRB review.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for the team of engineering technicians. Perform supervisory duties related to attendance, payroll, disciplinary actions, work assignment, performance review, goal setting and resource management.
- Hire, train, develop, and motivate personnel to follow procedures, meet high quality standards, production schedules, and productivity requirements.
- Provide quick turn-around escalation support to production floor to assist in resolving product, process or equipment issues. Develop and maintain engineering escalation program to satisfaction of production supervisors.
- Provide flexibility to assist production during pilot or ramp up phase to build and test sub-systems with limited documentation.
- Primary interface to MRB to setup processes to ensure timely evaluation of rejected and scrapped parts. Maintain aging and work-load within set expectations and utilize good documentation practices to fill out quality notifications.
- Interface with engineering to share learnings from troubleshooting activities on regular basis. Build and evaluate prototypes, perform DOEs, characterize products and manufacturing processes to support engineering teams.
- Create test/assembly/process documentation from scratch and propose changes to existing documentation to improve processes. Support ECO activities for manufacturing process Instruction changes.
- Maintain Engineering workstation, procure and manage supplies.
- Provide technical training to team members, manufacturing techs and test techs at supplier to use ISI owned equipment’s or test systems.
- Provide technician resources as needed to support RMA repair lines.
Qualifications
Skill/Job Requirements:
- Education and/or Experience: University diploma. A minimum of 3 years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal instruction.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, write and understand English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, etc. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, supervisors, engineers and upper management.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute averages, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs and line graphs. Ability to understand basic statistics such as standard deviations, mean, and other SPC terminology.
- Computer skills: Ability to use personal computers as part of daily work. This may include basic word processing and spreadsheet software. Ability to use systems (SAP/Agile) to check inventory balances, BOM structures, drawings, or inventory locations.
- Other skills and abilities: Advanced knowledge of PCs and associated software including control and test of electro-mechanical systems. Ability to work varying shifts. Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve with engineering. Must have experience with various electro-mechanical components such as motors, encoders, potentiometers, and computerized system control.
