System Modeling Engineer for HSIO IPs

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities:

Come and join our team as a system engineer and work on state of the art High Speed IO IPs using some of the most advanced CMOS processes in the world.

Design modeling responsibilities may consist of but not limited to high-speed transmitters and receivers, ADCs, equalizers, filters, high performance low-jitter clocking, on-die voltage regulators and references, signal integrity analysis, and other elements necessary to design, verify and productize high performance mixed-signal solutions.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Build system models for circuit blocks, including TX (Transmitter), CTLE (continuous time linear equalizer), ADC (Analog to Digital Converter), DFE (decision feedback equalizer) and DCO (digital controlled oscillator) in MATLAB Simulink
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines, and contribute to behavioral modeling, jitter analysis, mixed signal validation, and converting MATLAB Simulink Models into IBIS-AMI libraries
  • Influence block level specification and circuit microarchitecture definition based on system link margin analysis
  • Drive correlation of pre to post-silicon performance results
  • Perform circuit parameter sensitivity analysis based on system level simulations leading to suggested improvements
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate system performance in various packages and platform channels
  • Work with customers to successfully integrate and validate IP / Collaterals in SOCs and Platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as a can-do attitude

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering (or a related field) and 6+ years of experience -OR- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering (or a related field) and 4+ years of experience -OR- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering (or a related field) and 2+ years of experience in the following:

  • Experience with circuit modeling in deep sub-micron process; Proficiency in Matlab and Simulink
  • Deep knowledge of statistical analysis, jitter analysis, digital signal processing, and signal integrity
  • Knowledge of filter design, basic control theory, communication and signal processing theory
  • Experience with mixed signal circuit design for High-Speed IOs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional programming and scripting skills using one or more of the following: Python, Perl, C/C++, SKILL, TCL, etc
  • Hands-on experience with GCC and Microsoft Visual Studio
  • IBIS-AMI specification and model creation, and Keysight ADS
  • Knowledge of High-Speed Serdes Protocols (PCIe, UPI, USB, Ethernet)
  • Hands-on experience with Cadence Schematics Design Environment, SPICE, Verilog, Synopsys Verdi tools.
  • Hands-on experience with revision control software (git, svn)
  • CMOS device physics and silicon processing

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado, California: $144,501.00-$217,311.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
