Job Description

The Principal Engineer of Digital Innovation will lead the technical development and implementation of initiatives, focusing on digital modeling, digital content, digital thread, digital simulation, autonomous AI, and intelligent cyber-physical systems. The role involves leading cross-functional technical teams to integrate disruptive technologies that drive significant business value through innovation in industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Lead the development and implementation of digital twin technology to create virtual representations of physical assets, processes, and systems.
Develop and integrate simulation models to predict performance, optimize operations, and enable predictive maintenance.

Establish a digital thread framework to enable seamless data flow, enhancing collaboration and decision-making.
Establish a digital thread framework to manage digital content creation, ensuring that accurate and up-to-date information is available for all stakeholders.
Direct the integration of AI-driven autonomous systems into manufacturing processes, increasing efficiency, and reducing human error.
Develop AI models and algorithms to improve decision-making and enable intelligent automation.
Stay relevant of the latest trends and developments in digital innovation, including advancements in IoT, machine learning, robotics, and augmented/virtual reality.
Encourage and lead initiatives for research and development in emerging technologies that can be leveraged for competitive advantage.
Work closely with automation, operations, technology development, and other departments to ensure cohesive technology integration and knowledge sharing.
Engage with external stakeholders such as technology vendors, academic institutions, and industry consortiums to form strategic partnerships.
Identify skill gaps and facilitate training and development opportunities for team members to support the digital innovation initiatives.
Mentor engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in computer science, or related fields.
Advanced Degrees: Masters in operations research, or related fields, and Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, or related fields.
Experience: At least 15 years of experience in industrial environments, with a proven track record of introducing disruptive technology that generates significant business value.
Expertise in digital modeling, simulation, AI, and cyber-physical systems; strong leadership and project management abilities; excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Experience using statistical computer languages to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
Experience working with and creating data architectures and 3D models.
Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages and drawbacks.
Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in leading large-scale digital transformation projects from the technology side.
Publications or contributions to the field of AI or Digital Innovation.
Knowledge of FAB manufacturing and lean manufacturing principles
Financial knowledge including wafer cost, capital depreciation and ROI calculations
Expert in mathematical optimization and decomposition of complex problems for custom solutions
Familiarity with commercial optimization/constraints programming tools such as ILOG CPLEX, Concert, Gurobi, etc.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, California: $186,760.00-$299,166.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
