Come and join us. Intel is seeking highly qualified candidates to join our Network Edge Compute (NEX) as a Network Systems and Hardware Application Engineer

Within our Network Edge Compute, the NEX Communications Intel Ethernet Products Division IEPD Customer Experience and Support CES Organization is looking for an experienced hardware engineer who wants to work closely with Intel customers and SOC partner organizations. This is a highly technical engineering support role in which you will be accountable for providing world class design enablement and customer issue support to IEPD customers in cloud communications, wireless, and base station markets. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills who can understand, explain, and solve problems collaboratively with customers and internal SOC partner groups. This position requires networking and ethernet knowledge as well as hardware PCB, SOC, high speed links design, debug, and support experience.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Triage, reproduce, and debug root cause and deliver solutions for customer issues at the platform level related to or directly resulting from IEPD product and IP on Intel Xeon Atom based SOCs.
  • Engage in customer design enablement on SOC platforms with a HW emphasis.
  • Partner with SOC platform customer support team members for efficient coordinated issue resolution.
  • - Communicate with SOC partners and customers to articulate issue status, next steps, and engagement needed
  • Use engineering problem solving processes to lead logical, fruitful, reproduction debug and root cause identification efforts.
  • - Work in task force mode and lead visible, cross-functional, issue resolution efforts in response to customer escalation.
  • Work in the lab to evaluate signal integrity health, instrument platform for debug access, update change FW-NVM-SW ingredients as part of debug steps.
  • Comfortable working in a lab environment with server platform hardware debug instruments and debug software tools.
  • Contribute to design guides, application notes, datasheets, and other supporting technical collateral.
  • Advocates key customers customization request to backend teams through internal process.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experienced in adjusting communication to align to the technical skills of the audience as well as to accurately and succinctly communicate procedures results and recommendations to customers and peers.

Qualifications

Candidate must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field plus 4 years of industry work experience

Minimum Required Qualifications:
4 plus years of experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Reproduction and debug lab tools such as highspeed oscilloscope and bus analyzers.
  • Ethernet link PHY Cable Switch knowledge.
  • IEEE8023 standard, TCP-IP, PCI-SIG Spec, DMTF spec, 10-25-40-50-100G Ethernet MAC-PHY architecture.
  • Design of systems with highspeed interfaces as PCIe, XAUI, SERDES, KX, KR, SFI.
  • Bit Error Rate (BER) and link quality debug experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with how to setup and use a PCIE analyzer, Lauterbach debug probe, high speed oscilloscope, and logic analyzer.
  • Familiarity with customer reference boards, CRBs.
  • Basic understanding of BIOS Linux, kernel driver Windows, driver shell script.
  • Basic understanding of FPGA development.
  • Analytical skills, including experience in printed circuit board design and review and/or SOC design and post-silicon electrical validation and debug.
  • HSPICE simulation and ESD, EMI, and EMC, etc.
  • Cadence EDA tools.
  • Signal integrity.

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
