Intel is hiring an AI Container Platform Storage Engineer for development and optimization of its AI infrastructure. This includes collaboration with other team members to design and build a highly resilient Kubernetes container platform that is optimized for AI workloads on Intel accelerator hardware. Successful candidates will have a strong desire to address challenges with an attention to detail and focus to build a highly reliable and scalable container platform. A foundational understanding of software development principles and testing methodologies along with a high degree of independence, adaptability, drive, and willingness to accept new challenges, are a must. Candidate must also understand and adhere to software development industry best practices. Candidate should also have both demonstrated software development skills in a range of languages and strong Linux systems expertise.

Areas of responsibility for the AI Container Platform Storage Engineer role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with others to design, build, and maintain a Kubernetes container platform on bare metal on-premises hardware.
  • Participate in building advanced tooling for deployment, testing, monitoring, logging, administration, auditing, and operations of multiple Kubernetes clusters in distributed data centers.
  • Research and implement solutions related to Kubernetes container storage to build a highly reliable, scalable, secure, and resource-optimized AI container platform.
  • Evaluate and select of third-party commercial and open-source storage components for the AI container platform.
  • Identify, develop, and test backup and recovery procedures for platform applications and the platform itself.
  • Benchmarking of testing storage performance including throughput, latency, and IOPS

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum qualifications and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant work experience or a

Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant work experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in Python, Golang or another modern programming language.
  • 3+ years of experience in Linux based operating systems such as CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE, or Rocky.
  • 3+ years of experience in Bash shell scripting and Linux command-line acumen.
  • 2+ years of experience in Engineering team deploying software in a Cloud or on-premises data center environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in Linux containers and container runtimes (Docker, containerd, cri-o).
  • 2+ years of experience in Kubernetes.
  • 2+ years of experience in Git development workflow.
  • 2+ years of experience in software defined storage.
  • 2+ years of experience in Container Storage Interface (CSI) standard and CSI plugins for Kubernetes.
  • 2+ years of experience in configuration and deployment of CSI operators, components, and storage plugins for Kubernetes.
  • 2+ years of experience in Kubernetes storage class creation and maintenance of persistent volumes (PV) and persistent volume claims (PVC).
  • 2+ years of experience in operations and administration of large, high-performance storage (Netapp, Weka, etc.).
  • 2+ years of experience in block, file, and object storage configuration, deployment, and operations.
  • 2+ years of experience in metrics identification and monitoring implementations of storage clusters.
  • 2+ years of experience in backup procedures and disaster and recovery planning.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Kubespray, Kops, or Kubadm.
  • Experience building storage clusters for HPC and AI/ML applications and workloads.
  • Planning and execution of migration strategies ensuring data integrity, minimal downtime, and system performance optimization.
  • Troubleshooting of complex storage issues, including performance bottlenecks, data recovery, and optimization constraints.
  • Experience with SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, Min.io, S3, iSCSI, Ceph, NFS, NVMe, and other storage technologies and protocols.
  • Hardware accelerators and specialized devices (GPU, HPU, HPC) workload storage.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, California: $162,082.00-$243,222.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
