Infosys Public Services is seeking a z/OS Developer to join our team.
Position Description (scope of work or brief narrative):
- Design, develop, code, test, and debug COBOL programs on the IBM z/OS platform.
- Maintain and enhance existing mainframe applications, ensuring stability and performance.
- Utilize JCL for job control and batch processing.
- Work with VSAM datasets for efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Develop and maintain applications interacting with DB2 and/or IMS databases.
- Utilize CICS for online transaction processing and communication.
- Participate in mainframe migration projects or modernization initiatives (preferred).
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to mainframe applications.
- Utilize IBM utilities, TSO/ISPF, and Abend-AID for development and debugging.
- Work with scheduling tools such as Control-D or Control-M.
- Utilize File-AID for data manipulation and analysis.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Java developers, on integration projects.
- Adhere to mainframe security protocols, including RACF.
- Contribute to best practices in mainframe migration planning, including risk assessment and resource management.

- 5 years of hands-on experience with COBOL programming on IBM z/OS.
- Strong proficiency in JCL, COBOL, VSAM, and CICS.
- Solid understanding of batch processing and online transaction processing.
- Proven experience with IBM utilities, TSO/ISPF, and Abend-AID.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with experience collaborating on technical projects.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
- Experience in mainframe migration projects or modernization initiatives.
- Familiarity with mainframe communication tools such as CICS.
- Familiarity with mainframe security protocols, including RACF.
- Experience with Control-D, Control-M, and File-AID.
- Knowledge of best practices in mainframe migration planning.
- Experience with DevOps practices on mainframes, including tools like Jenkins and Git.
- Prior experience with performance tuning on mainframe systems.
- Prior experience with ServiceNow.
- Experience integrating mainframe systems with Java applications.
- Deep understanding of mainframe performance tuning methodologies.
- Familiarity with modern development methodologies applied to mainframe environments
A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a foreign equivalent is required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive, relevant work experience instead of every year of education.
The job entails sitting and working at a computer for extended periods. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email, or face-to-face. Travel may be required as per the job requirements
