Currently, we are looking for a WebSphere Administrator to join IPS.

Position Description (scope of work or brief narrative):

  • Provide deployment, administration, and operational support of production, staging, test, and development environments using WebSphere Application Server.
  • Architect WebSphere cells, clusters, and nodes.
  • Automate repetitive tasks through scripts.
  • Configure and test production environments.
  • Execute functions on the WebSphere application server.
  • Develop firewalls and multi-tiered architectures.
  • Architect, test, and initiate upgrades and patches.
  • Support new application development professionals.
  • Perform and initiate QA audits.
  • Monitor application server performance and respond appropriately.
  • Monitor systems capacity and performance, plan and execute disaster recovery procedures, and provide Tier 2 technical support.
  • Modify and update technical documentation, create reports, and determine project requirements.

  • 4+ years of experience as a WebSphere Administrator.
  • Experience with web-based applications, SOA (Services Oriented Architectures), and web application servers, e.g., WebLogic, WebSphere.
  • Competency in relational database structures and SQL.
  • Experience with process documentation and documentation tools, e.g., Visio.
  • Experience with UNIX system administration and TCP / IP networking.
  • Experience using Java, J2EE, XML, SQL, and Shell / Perl Scripting in a UNIX environment.
  • Willing to support east coast clients.
  • Strong analytical & troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • Reside in eastern or central time zone locations.
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment Core Administration Certifications.
  • Public Sector project experience within Health and Human Services (HHS).
Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive, relevant work experience in lieu of every year of education. Candidate's that have completed a Master's degree program strongly preferred.

The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email, or face-to-face. Travel may be required as per the job requirements.
