Short Description: System Admin Lead - Database (SQL & Oracle)

Location : Melbourne, Australia

Salary range:
AUD 108,571- 119,893(Annual Gross)

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • 6 - 8 years solid RDBMS experience (with proven track record), with handling of very large complex database environment
  • He/she should work independently with minimum support/guidance from internal team
  • Good understanding of application coding to avoid performance issue, good understanding of sql query executing plan
  • Working experience of table partitioning, data compression, index optimisation, query statistics to improve database performance
  • Good understanding of operating system including window cluster, AAG, SQL replication, SSIS/SSRS etc
  • Working experience in supporting SQL hybrid environment (Azure onprem SQL)
  • Good understanding of database backup/recovery in a complex AAG environment.
  • Deep understanding of database best practices and maintain database standards
Skill / Competencies / Experience:
  • Install, upgrade, migrate, administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server's.
  • Build database environments according to standard build process and best practice for assigned projects
  • Implement backup, and disaster recovery strategies especially Always-On groups
  • Design and implement database security policies, access controls, and user permissions.
  • Conduct database capacity planning and resource allocation to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Develop processes for optimising database security while ensuring that data is stored securely and optimally (TDE and End to End Data Encryption)
  • Applies and maintains specific security controls as required by organisational policy and local risk assessments.
  • Work closely with development teams to optimise indexing, query execution and related scoped tasks.
  • Create automation for repeating database tasks
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ensures database support documentation is developed and maintained
  • Provides input to the service continuity planning process and implements resulting plans.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills together with the ability to liaise and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in the delivery of complex and innovative ICT systems and projects.
  • Undertakes other duties as required.
Sometime other than project work he/she need to backfill BAU team members who will be working on the project.
