Job Summary:
We are seeking a Solution Architect with deep expertise in Infrastructure and Architecture, aligned with the Small Project Management Framework (SPMF) of BHP, and proven experience in the mining industry. This role has to work in the design and governance of enterprise infrastructure solutions that support mining operations, ensuring alignment with business strategy, technology standards, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
Architecture Leadership:

  • Define and maintain infrastructure architecture standards and roadmaps in alignment with SPMF principles.
  • Table the design of scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions across mining operations (remote sites, processing plants, logistics hubs).
SPMF Alignment:
  • Apply SPMF to assess, prioritize, and govern infrastructure initiatives.
  • Ensure architectural decisions support portfolio-level goals, including cost optimization, risk mitigation, and strategic alignment.
Infrastructure Strategy:
  • Architect hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) with edge computing for remote mining sites.
  • Design and integrate systems for operational technology (OT), SCADA, and industrial IoT.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Partner with business units, IT, engineering, and external vendors to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Present architecture strategies to Project management and technical teams.
Governance & Compliance:
  • Ensure infrastructure solutions comply with mining industry regulations, cybersecurity standards, and ESG requirements.
  • Maintain architectural documentation and enforce governance across projects.
Innovation & Optimization:
  • Evaluate emerging technologies (AI, digital twins, automation) for infrastructure modernization.
  • Drive continuous improvement in system performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, with at least 3 years in infrastructure and mining industry contexts.
  • Strong understanding of SPMF or similar enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Proven experience with:
    • Mining infrastructure systems (e.g., remote connectivity, ruggedized hardware, OT/IT integration)
    • Cloud platforms and virtualization
    • Network architecture, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery
    • ERP and MES integration (SAP, Oracle)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications: TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architect, ITIL, PMP
  • Experience with ESG reporting and sustainability technologies
  • Familiarity with mining-specific challenges such as harsh environments, remote operations, and safety systems
