PostGreSQL Data Base Administrator

Infosys is seeking a skilled, dedicated, and proactive PostgreSQL DBA with strong Leadership and technical skills. He/she will also assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration, maintenance, security best practices, create SOPs and other documentation, anticipate problems, and suggest solutions.

Required Qualifications:
• Candidate must be located within commuting distance or willing to relocate to Austin, TX. This position may require travel in the US.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
• At least 4 years of Information Technology experience.

• At least 4 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA.
• Hands-on experience in configuring and supporting replication using different replication tools.
• Background in building large database infrastructure supporting a high volume of transactions in a mission-critical environment.
• Hands-on experience backup, restore and PITR.
• Good experience on PostgreSQL architectures (Memory components, Different processes, And basic understanding of the working of PostgreSQL).
• Working experience on PostgreSQL Installation.
• Working Experience on Switchover/failover task depends on the scenarios.
• Scheduled maintenance activities to vacuum, analyze for improving of query response time.
• Working experience on upgrades (Minor and major versions).
• Troubleshooting Day-to-day operations and issues like (CPU and Load average, locking blocking, long-running sql, and Disk-space issues).
• Supporting Incident, Task and other BAU related activities.
• Monitoring and responding to alerts.
• Proficient with SQL, Shell or Python languages.
• Providing Oncall support on a rotational to support P1/P2 incidents.

• Analytical and Communication skills.
• Planning and Co-ordination skills.
• Deploying and managing PostgreSQL on AWS Cloud infrastructure including both EC2 and RDS instances.
• Maintaining different clients on AWS and monitoring them using CloudWatch.

The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email or face to face. Travel may be required as per the job requirements.
