MMOO Engineer - Microwave & Optical Transport Networks
Role Summary:
The MMOO Engineer is responsible for the planning, deployment, and operational support of high-capacity transport networks using microwave (MMOO) and optical technologies (DWDM, ROADM, FTTx). This role supports mission-critical infrastructure in telecom and industrial environments, ensuring robust connectivity and service continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of microwave and optical transport networks (DWDM, ROADM, SDH, FTTx).
  • Manage end-to-end deployment of MMOO links and fiber optic infrastructure for telecom and mining sectors.
  • Conduct engineering design, site surveys, and commissioning of transport systems.
  • Oversee infrastructure projects including power, climate control, and site readiness for network equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for deployment, testing, and operational handover.
  • Support network optimization and troubleshooting for transport layers.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001/2015 standards and contribute to certification processes.
  • Provide technical leadership in multi-disciplinary projects involving RAN, core, and transport domains.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including planning, monitoring, and control reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree in Civil Telecommunications Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in MMOO and optical transport systems.
  • Proficiency in DWDM, ROADM, SDH, FTTx, HFC, and IP photonic networks.
  • Experience with Nokia DWDM platforms and NFM-T/NFM-P management systems.
  • Certified in WDM operation, deployment, and control plane technologies.
  • Skilled in project management tools (MS Project, Excel) and technical design software (AutoCAD, iBwave).
  • Intermediate English proficiency.
Preferred Attributes:
  • Experience in mining and industrial telecom deployments (e.g., BHP, Entel).
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills across technical and operational teams.
  • Background in scientific research and innovation in optical systems.
  • Familiarity with DAS systems and indoor/outdoor site deployments.
