Technical Product Owner
Job Description:
The Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the development team. This role involves close collaboration with the Product Manager, Business Owners, and development teams to translate high-level product vision and strategy into actionable user stories and tasks. The Product Owner ensures that the team understands the product requirements and works to deliver high-quality increments that meet business needs.
TPO's are needed (instead of PO's) where products are highly technical and require frequent 'Tech Enablers' to drive business features.
Key Responsibilities:
Backlog Management:
- Own and manage their assign team's user stories within the product backlog, ensuring it is up to date, prioritized, and aligned with the product roadmap and strategic direction set by the Product Manager.

- Write clear, concise, and actionable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
- Continuously refine and prioritize the backlog based on stakeholder feedback, business value, and changing requirements.
- Work closely with the Product Manager to understand the product vision, strategy, and goals.
- Engage with Engineering teams, Architects and other stakeholders to gather technical requirements, feedback, and validate stories.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders and the development team to ensure alignment.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams, ensuring that technical solutions are aligned with product requirements and business goals.
- Collaborate with Technology Solutions Architects and Integration Engineers to design and implement technically feasible solutions.
- Review and approve technical designs, ensuring they meet quality standards and align with the product vision.
- Participate in sprint planning meetings to help the team understand the requirements and prioritize tasks.
- Ensure that the development team has a clear understanding of user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Provide timely feedback and clarification to the development team during sprints.
- Collaborate with the development team to deliver high-quality product increments that meet the defined requirements.
- Conduct regular reviews and demos of completed work to gather feedback and ensure alignment with business needs.
- Ensure that delivered features meet the acceptance criteria and are ready for release.
- Monitor and evaluate product performance using metrics and KPIs, and make data-driven decisions to improve the product.
- Participate in retrospectives and other continuous improvement activities to enhance team performance and product quality.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to inform product decisions.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for user stories, features, and product requirements.
- Communicate progress, risks, and issues to the Product Manager and other stakeholders.
- Ensure that all relevant information is shared with the development team in a timely manner.
- Product Managers: Work closely with Product Managers to ensure that the technical product backlog aligns with the overall product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Engineering Teams: Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that technical solutions are aligned with product requirements and business goals, providing technical leadership throughout the development process.
- Business Owners: Engage with Business Owners to understand business priorities, gather technical requirements, and validate technical features.
- Technology Solutions Architects and Integration Engineers: Work with technical teams to ensure that technical solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with architectural standards.
- Stakeholders: Facilitate communication between stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment and gather feedback on technical product development.
