Infrastructure Support Engineer

Infosys is seeking an Infrastructure Support Engineer to support and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing data infrastructure environments. This role focuses on supporting ETL platforms, Big Data tools, and automation in a Unix/Linux environment.

Required Qualifications:
• Candidate must be located within commuting distance of Tampa, FL, or Dallas, TX, or be willing to relocate to the area. This position may require travel.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education
• At least 4 years of Information Technology experience
• At least 4 years of experience in ETL infrastructure support and implementation.
• Strong Unix/Linux administration and scripting skills (Shell, Bash).
• Hands-on experience with Ab Initio (GDE, EME basics) and Big Data tools (Hive, Spark).
• Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible and Python scripting.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Support ETL infrastructure on Unix/Linux platforms, including patching and performance tuning.
• Coordinate infrastructure changes for capacity expansion and high availability.
• Develop automation scripts using Ansible, Python, or Shell to streamline operations.
• Collaborate with application teams to deliver infrastructure solutions aligned with business needs.
• Participate in the design, build, and delivery of ETL infrastructure components.
• Engage with stakeholders to identify opportunities for optimization and automation.

Preferred Skills:
• Exposure to Hadoop cluster management and configuration.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile environments (e.g., Jira).
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Basic to intermediate experience with Hadoop ecosystem
• Familiarity with Ab Initio for running and monitoring ETL jobs
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting
• Support & Operations:
• Handling L2/L3 support tickets for data pipelines and infrastructure issues
• Monitoring job performance and cluster health using tools
• Performing routine tasks like job restarts, log analysis, and basic troubleshooting
• Automation & Scripting:
• Writing or modifying basic automation scripts using Shell, Python, or Ansible
• Automating routine support tasks (e.g., log cleanup, job status checks)
• Collaboration & Documentation:
• Working with data engineers and application teams to support deployments
• Participating in change management and documenting support procedures

The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email or face to face. Travel may be required as per the job requirements.
