Core Engineer - Mobile Core Networks
Role Summary:
The Core Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, optimization, and maintenance of mobile core network infrastructure (EPC/5GC), ensuring reliable connectivity, service delivery, and integration with enterprise applications. This role supports both public and private LTE/5G networks, with a strong focus on mission-critical environments such as mining and industrial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement mobile core network elements including SGSN, GGSN, MME, SGW, PGW, IMS, PCRF, OCS, EIR, and DNS.
- Lead integration and migration projects between virtual EPC platforms (e.g., Nokia, Ericsson).
- Perform capacity planning, network optimization, and troubleshooting across PS Core and MPLS Core.
- Support deployment of new services such as IoT, M2M, and national roaming.
- Develop High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation for LTE/5G networks.
- Ensure secure and resilient network architecture, incorporating cybersecurity best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application services over LTE/5G infrastructure.
- Conduct incident resolution and performance analysis for EPC Core and backhaul.
- Manage disaster recovery planning and support models for core network operations.
- Degree in Electronic or Telecommunications Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in mobile core network engineering.
- Strong knowledge of LTE/EPC and 5G Core architecture and protocols.
- Experience with virtualized core platforms (vEPC) and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity standards and secure network design.
- Proficiency in Cisco, Huawei, Nokia, and Ericsson technologies.
- Hands-on experience with network planning, implementation, and optimization.
- Bilingual: Spanish (native), English (intermediate to fluent).
- Experience in mining industry deployments and private LTE/5G networks.
- Proven leadership in technical teams and strategic project execution.
- Ability to produce high-level documentation and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
