We are looking for a Solutions Consultant for presales to join our team and focus on the Switzerland market. In this role, you will work closely with customers and colleagues to create solution designs that show the value of our products. You will play a key part in the sales process by sharing your knowledge and helping customers find the right path forward.

Your role and responsibilities
As a Solution Consultant, you are the technical lead in the sales process-translating customer needs into tailored, value-driven solutions. Working closely with the field sales team, your goal is to guide prospects through their decision-making journey with expertise, clarity, and trust.
Here's what your day-to-day may look like:
Discovery & Insight
- Collaborate with sales colleagues to identify and qualify new opportunities
- Lead detailed discovery sessions to understand the customer's IT, cloud, and financial challenges
- Uncover their goals and define how our solutions can support them
Consult & Advise
- Serve as a trusted advisor on IT financial management and cloud optimization
- Recommend tailored strategies using Apptio's platform to meet both business and technical objectives
- Build long-term credibility with stakeholders across finance, IT, and operations
Present & Demonstrate
- Deliver compelling, tailored product presentations and live demos
- Clearly show how Apptio solves key Cloud Cost Management and FinOps issues
- Focus on real-world outcomes and measurable business value
Design Technical Solutions
- Lead the design of customer-specific solutions based on their unique needs
- Explain the architecture and differentiators of ApptioOne in a way that connects with technical and non-technical audiences
- Ensure the proposed solution aligns with both current needs and future goals
Technical Validation
- Coordinate proof-of-value exercises using customer data
- Demonstrate how Apptio's solutions effectively solve their specific challenges
- Support the decision-making process with credible, data-driven results
RFP/RFI Ownership
- Manage and craft clear, high-quality responses to RFIs and RFPs
- Highlight Apptio's strengths and ensure our offering matches customer requirements
Enablement & Evangelism
- Share expertise with colleagues through knowledge sharing and internal training
- Represent Apptio at events, webinars, and executive briefings as a thought leader in the space
Customer Feedback & Collaboration
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams
- Channel customer feedback to help improve and evolve our platform
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
Your Profile - What You Bring
We are looking for a professional who combines technical know-how with a good understanding of finance and strong communication skills. If you enjoy working with customers, solving problems, and connecting IT with business goals, this role is for you.
Education
- University degree (Bachelor or higher) in Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a similar field.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a Presales, Solutions Consultant, or Sales Engineering role.
- You have worked with IT departments in different industries and company sizes.
Finance Knowledge
- Good understanding of financial topics, such as:
- Profitability
- Cost allocation
- Financial planning and budgeting
- Knowledge of accounting basics and how to improve business processes is important.
Software & IT Understanding
- Experience with enterprise systems like SAP, Workday, ServiceNow, or Oracle.
- Familiar with IT topics like:
- IT Financial Management
- Service Management
- Agile methods
- Value-based selling
Cloud & FinOps
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Confident working with financial models and cost tools.
- FinOps certification is a plus (or similar experience in cloud financial operations).
Solution Design
- Strong skills in designing and validating solutions for IT and finance use cases.
- Able to turn customer needs into clear, value-driven solutions.
Languages
- Fluent in German (or Swiss German) and English (written and spoken).
Preferred technical and professional experience
We are looking for someone who understands both technology and business. If you enjoy working with data, IT systems, and people, these additional skills will support your success in the role:
IT Industry Know-How
- Good understanding of how IT organizations work.
- Experience working with or selling to IT decision-makers in different industries.
- Comfortable working with APIs, Python, or similar scripting tools.
- Able to use technology to support data analysis and improve solution design.
- Knowledge of other European languages is a plus (for example: French, Dutch, Spanish, etc.).
