Your role and responsibilities
K8ssandra is our Kubernetes operator for running Apache Cassandra and DSE in Kubernetes. It powers Mission Control, our next generation operations platform supporting an array of hosting options from the cloud to on-premises and everything in-between. We're looking for a software engineer to join our Mission Control team. Our team owns and maintains Mission Control and all the operators and OSS tools which ship with K8ssandra, primarily: k8ssandra-operator, cass-operator, Reaper and Medusa.

What you will do:
● Design, develop, and maintain Kubernetes operators written in golang using the operator-sdk.
● Help Production Engineering teams set up, maintain and troubleshoot Mission Control as foundation to power Astra Managed Clusters, our hosted DBaas solution with dedicated resources.
● Be passionate about software quality, improving the design/development process, and building highly available systems
● Being curious and analytical, wanting to learn, understand and improve complex systems with many moving parts
● Be dedicated to providing the best possible customer experience

● Optionally, Design, develop, and maintain Medusa which is the lead OSS backup and restore solution and Reaper which is the lead OSS anti-entropy repair solution for both Cassandra and DSE.

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise
- 4-6 years of relevant work experience
- Expertise in Kubernetes, including configuration, usage as an application platform, maintenance, scaling, and troubleshooting.
- 3+ years experience with writing software in Golang, Python and Java
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Development experience of Kubernetes operators
- Experience with Apache Cassandra and/or DSE as a developer or as an administrator
- Experience with databases beyond using them as black-box storage in application development
- Experience building highly scalable distributed systems on Kubernetes
