Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Software Research Engineer to help in our continuing mission to make Granite family of models best-in-class and to deliver pathbreaking AI experiences to developers. The candidate should have a versatile software and research experience with Generative AI models and developer tools, and a track record of working with cross-functional teams of researchers, engineers, and product management.

Required technical and professional expertise

- Ability to work with the entire GenAI stack: from deep learning libraries to frontend, including modern deployment technologies such as containers and kubernetes.
- Ability to work across Granite feedback lifecycle, including: feedback data collection, model issue testing and evaluation, prompt engineering, model and data improvement techniques.
- Ability to go from concept to prototype quickly.
- Understanding and experience of working within production constraints.
- Experience developing or applying agentic libraries and understanding of LLM fundamentals including evaluations.
- Systems-oriented thinking including interest in systems design and software architecture.
- Curiosity, hunger to learn, adaptability, self-motivated, ability to own and deliver.
- Great communication skills

- Exposure to research environments, with patents or publication experience
