In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
Your role and responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager - Financial Analyst to join our team. This individual will be responsible for analyzing IBM's financial performance against budgets and forecasts, addressing complex functional problems, and driving innovative solutions using emerging tools and technologies.
Job Summary:
The Financial Analyst in the Project Management job family will analyze external clients' forecasts, budgets, actuals, and business dynamics, designing detailed financial analyses and recommending solutions to management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analytical Problem Solving: Recognize and address complex functional problems, anticipate potential issues, and integrate multiple data sources for comprehensive analyses to inform proactive decisions. Streamline complex workflows and improve interdepartmental coordination for faster project completion. Collaborate on cross-functional projects to solve complex challenges, applying new tools and technologies to drive innovative solutions, and lead initiatives to automate key processes.
2. Organizational Impact and Autonomy: Demonstrate autonomy in leading initiatives beyond your department, influencing project outcomes, and driving significant contributions to organizational success. Evaluate potential risks and benefits independently, leading key projects or managing departments. Translate functional plans into operational processes at the department level and lead their execution over short to mid-term periods (up to 3 years). Brings fresh points of view, informed by a thorough understanding of a client's business, industry, market, & technology.
3. Leadership and Collaboration: Recommend policy changes and establish procedures affecting multiple disciplines. Foster a collaborative environment across departments, utilizing group dynamics to enhance team performance. Advanced understanding of the business line and a growing understanding of the overall company and the competitive environment. Exhibits strong communication skills, facilitating open dialogue and welcoming divergent viewpoints. Practices the principles of successful negotiation under supervision or approved situations. Advises other professionals based on deep functional knowledge. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships across departments. Utilizes group dynamics to enhance team performance. Supervise junior professionals, providing mentorship and coaching to foster their growth and skill development. Leverage advanced digital tools and AI technologies to drive collaboration and enhance team and department communication. 4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation, reporting, and creating presentations. Strong time-management skills necessary for month-end reporting aligned with IBM accounting timelines. Familiarity with ISC for opportunity lookups and progress tracking is required. Strong Excel skills - comfortable manipulating reporting data and creating reporting views, comfortable with SUMIFS, XLOOKUPS and VLOOKUPS, creating pivots, etc; IPPF and IBP report generation, familiarity with entering forecast input into IPPF. Proficient in using Microsoft Excel to create presentations for clients and account partners.
- Risk and Issue Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks, and developing contingency plans to minimize their impact on project delivery.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Tracking project performance against established metrics, generating regular reports, and providing insights to stakeholders to inform decision-making. Drives initiatives to automate key processes, reducing manual effort and minimizing errors across the team.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, business leaders, and project managers to understand requirements, resolve issues, and ensure project alignment with strategic goals. Brings new perspectives informed by a thorough understanding of a client's business, industry, market, and technology.

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or relevant advanced degree would be advantageous.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial analysis, project management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Jira, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet).
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience in crafting compelling narratives around project performance and benefits.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to derive insights and communicate project status.
- Proven track record of leadership, preferably in managing teams and projects.
- Demonstrated excellence in using Excel for complex data manipulation and reporting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with various stakeholders.
- Experience in utilizing advanced digital tools and AI technologies to enhance collaboration and communication.
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Knowledge of hybrid cloud solutions and IBM's services is a plus.
- PMP certification is a plus.
