Your role and responsibilities

This position is for a Veritas Netbackup Administrator for a backup environment consisting of RHEL Master/Media
Servers, Quantum I6K tape libraries, and Quantum DXi storage units. This position will primarily support a single
customer, but may also interact with the existing backup team to manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot and
support 50+ customers' backups. This position will assist with implementing new backup policies, and provide
input for developing local operating procedures and policies as needed or requested. This position will need to be
adept at monitoring the ongoing operation of the backup systems and provide utilization reports to identify problems
and corrective actions as needed.

Responsible for gathering requirements, installation, configuration, and testing of backups in a high availability
enterprise system

• Monitor backup jobs across multiple platforms
• Perform routine disaster recovery scenarios
• Maintain backup policies and standards
• Troubleshoot performance problems and propose solutions
• Maintain all equipment for backup environment to include servers, disk, and tape storage devices
• Create and maintain documentation
• Follow and maintain in-house documentation for repeatable processes
• Follow ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices for Change Management

Required technical and professional expertise

• Required Certifications: Security+ and Appropriate Computing Environment Certification

  • Minimum of Five years experience with Veritas NetBackup 8.x or greater
  • Minimum of Five years experience with MS-Windows, Solaris, and RHEL/OEL Linux environments
  • Minimum of Two years experience with VMWare 6.x or greater
  • Minimum of Two years experience with network communication (IP based)
  • Installation and configuration experience with Windows Server 2016, Solaris 11, RedHat
  • Enterprise Linux 7 and higher
  • Experience with both Windows Powershell and Bash shell scripting
  • Strong CLI skills
  • Experience with SAN and FC networks
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP communications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal security clearance with the US government
    Strong documentation skills

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • 5 years of Cisco switch management experience
  • Experience with the Cisco Nexus (7K, 5K, and 2K) line and Cisco Catalyst line
  • Experience with the Cisco MDS 9k line
  • Experience with Cisco ASA/Firepower firewalls and Palo Alto firewalls
  • Experience with F5 load balancers
