SAP MM Consultant

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
Your role and responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- System Configuration and Customization: Assist in configuring and customizing SAP S/4HANA modules, particularly Sales and Distribution (SD) and Materials Management (MM), according to client specifications and business processes.
- Data Migration: Support the migration of legacy system data to SAP S/4HANA, ensuring data integrity and accuracy throughout the process.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Perform unit testing and participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that the implemented solutions meet the business requirements.
- Problem Solving: Work collaboratively with senior consultants to troubleshoot technical issues that arise during project implementation, testing, or post-go-live support phases.
- Documentation: Contribute to creating and maintaining technical documentation, including configuration guides, process flows, and other relevant materials to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance.
- Training and Support: Provide basic training to end-users, addressing queries and concerns related to the implemented SAP modules.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the SAP system by understanding business needs and proposing optimized configurations and workflows.
- Project Participation: Actively participate in all phases of SAP implementation projects, adhering to methodologies and best practices established by the organization.
- Stay Current: Keep abreast of industry trends, new SAP features, and emerging technologies in the SAP HANA and SCM MM domains to contribute effectively to projects and maintain professional growth.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including senior consultants, project managers, and other stakeholders, to deliver high-quality solutions that meet client expectations.

Required technical and professional expertise
- SAP Proficiency: A deep understanding of SAP functionalities, particularly in Materials Management (MM). This knowledge is crucial whether you're working as a consultant or in a K-user role.
- English Language: Fluency in English is essential. Most SAP documentation, communication within teams, and client interactions occur in English.
- Consulting Skills (for consultants):
- Configuration and Customization: Ability to tailor SAP modules to fit specific client needs, understanding transaction codes, user exits, and BADIs.
- Data Management: Experience or quick learning capacity in data migration strategies, ensuring smooth transitions from legacy systems to SAP.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Familiarity with testing methodologies to verify that SAP implementations meet client requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Capacity to analyze issues and devise effective solutions within the SAP environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain complex SAP concepts to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Day-to-Day Operations: Proficiency in using SAP to perform routine tasks related to sales, purchasing, inventory, and other core business processes within MM and SD.
- Workflow Understanding: Knowledge of how data moves through SAP and the implications of transactions on overall business processes.
- Basic Troubleshooting: Ability to identify and resolve common user issues independently or report them appropriately to the IT support team.
- Basic ABAP: Familiarity with ABAP programming, especially for custom reports, interfaces, or enhancements, can be advantageous.
- Cloud Understanding: Basic knowledge of cloud computing or SAP's cloud offerings can be beneficial, given the growing trend towards cloud deployments.
- Adaptability: Be ready to learn new SAP features and updates quickly.
- Teamwork: Effectively collaborate with colleagues, contributing to project success.
- Time Management: Organize tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
