Introduction
IBM is seeking a researcher for a position in the discipline of surface preparation and chemical processing research and development at T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY.
Your role and responsibilities
The successful applicant will conduct experimental studies directed toward a fundamental understanding of the mechanisms underlying interface control for both metal and dielectric materials as well as for selective material removal via wet and gaseous (non-plasma) chemistry. Required skills include theoretical understanding of thin film interfaces, expertise in the fundamental principles of and direct operational experience with techniques for surface preparation and selective chemical removal of thin films, and facility with analytical techniques appropriate to such studies. Additionally, familiarity with semiconductor device fabrication is strongly desired and basic understanding of semiconductor device physics, a differentiator. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork skills and is expected to work closely with peers in the thin films and clean processing group, as well as with researchers from other disciplines including reactive ion etch, chemical mechanical polishing and photolithography.
