Introduction

A Computer Operator will consistently monitor all online and batch job streams running on multiple mainframes ensuring all are advancing as expected and are on target to meet client SLA's. Other responsibilities will include identifying issues and notifying the Supervisor or Lead Operator of any issues so they can be corrected in a timely manner.

The role of a Computer Operator is vital to our business unit. We are the "front lines" for providing critical services to our clients. Fintech Core Banking Operations runs programs that directly update thousands of customer accounts as well as produces numerous downstream deliverables essential to our client's daily business.

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

A successful candidate should have very strong computer skills. Must know the basics of accessing and navigating the internet. Must have good oral and written communication skills. This position is 1st Shift and requires a high level of attentiveness. The position may require entering a weekend rotation once the associate has completed an adequate level of training. Additionally, this role will work special projects with a focus on future technology client offerings.

Associate's Degree/College Diploma

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

System Administration capabilities.

• Unisys and/or IBM Operator experience preferred

  • Task Management: Operators start, stop, and monitor various jobs and tasks running on the system.
  • Resource Allocation: They ensure that resources like storage and processing power are allocated efficiently.
  • System Monitoring: Operators track system performance and identify potential problems.
  • Troubleshooting: They diagnose and resolve issues that arise, often using various utilities and tools.
  • Data Management: Operators handle files and data storage, ensuring integrity and access.
  • Security: Operators are responsible for maintaining system security and controlling access.
