Procurement Specialist - Entry level
Introduction
IBM's procurement function oversees $17B in annual spend for IBM and nearly $100B in spend for our BPO clients through our procurement BPO delivery team and seeks to continually drive savings and increased value. IBM procurement provides IBM and our clients with end-to-end S2P services including spend analytics, category strategy, strategic sourcing across multiple categories, tactical buying and procurement operations, all governed by robust and adaptable processes and procedures.
IBM is currently undergoing a procurement transformation that will transform internal procurement, making it an exemplar of digital procurement featuring IBM's automation and AI capabilities and leverage this Client Zero environment as the catalyst to bring these capabilities to our procurement BPO clients.
Your role and responsibilities
We're looking for a motivated college student to join our team as a Procurement Entry Level Hire. This is a dynamic, hands-on opportunity to explore the many facets of procurement. You'll work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to real projects that impact our business.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, analyzing data, and collaborating across teams. You'll gain exposure to various areas such as:
- Strategic Sourcing & Buying - Support vendor negotiations and selection.
- Risk Management - Help identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Process Improvement - Analyze workflows and suggest efficiencies.
- Data Analysis - Use tools to uncover insights and support decision-making.
- Supplier Onboarding - Assist in vetting and integrating new suppliers.
- Accounts Payable Support - Collaborate with finance to ensure smooth transactions.
- Federal Operations - Learn about compliance and government contracting.
- Client-Facing Consulting - Participate in cross-functional projects with external stakeholders.
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Bachelor's degree (Business, Supply Chain, Economics, Finance, Data Science, or related field preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience leveraging AI tools with an AI-first mindset.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Proficiency in Excel or other data tools is a plus.
