Private Equity Project Financial Analyst
Introduction
IBM Consulting is seeking a strategic Project Financial Analyst to serve as the analytical backbone of our Private Equity market expansion, leveraging sophisticated business modeling and financial acumen to drive compelling value propositions and measurable ROI demonstrations for PE firms and their portfolio companies. This role sits at the critical intersection of financial analysis and sales enablement, developing robust business cases that translate IBM Consulting's capabilities into quantifiable value creation opportunities that resonate with PE investment professionals. The Project Financial Analyst will be responsible for creating sophisticated financial models that demonstrate how IBM's consulting services drive portfolio company performance improvements, operational efficiencies, and value creation aligned with PE firms' investment thesis and exit strategies. This position requires deep analytical rigor combined with commercial insight to support proposal development, competitive positioning, and ongoing value tracking across PE engagements, ensuring IBM Consulting consistently delivers measurable financial impact that justifies continued investment and relationship expansion with PE clients.
Your role and responsibilities
This Project Financial Analyst will develop comprehensive financial models and business cases that demonstrate IBM Consulting's value creation potential across Private Equity portfolio companies, supporting proposal development with quantified ROI projections, competitive cost-benefit analyses, and scenario planning for different engagement approaches. Key responsibilities include creating sophisticated analytical frameworks that translate consulting services into measurable financial impact, including EBITDA improvement, cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency gains that align with PE firms' value creation strategies. The analyst will collaborate closely with sales teams to develop compelling proposals, providing analytical support for pricing strategies, competitive positioning, and value proposition development tailored to specific PE clients and their portfolio companies. Critical responsibilities include establishing value tracking methodologies to monitor actual performance against projected outcomes, creating regular reporting dashboards that demonstrate ongoing value realization, and developing case studies that showcase IBM Consulting's proven financial impact for future business development. Additional duties include conducting competitive analysis to position IBM's offerings against regional consulting firms, supporting contract negotiations with financial justification for service investments, and maintaining robust databases of value creation metrics that can be leveraged for future PE engagements and market expansion initiatives.

Candidates must demonstrate strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, with proven experience developing complex business cases, ROI analyses, and value quantification frameworks for consulting services or technology implementations.
Essential qualifications include advanced proficiency in financial modeling tools, including Excel, PowerBI, or similar platforms, with ability to create dynamic models that scenario-plan different value creation pathways.
The role requires excellent business acumen to understand operational improvement opportunities and translate consulting deliverables into financial impact metrics.
Candidates must possess strong proposal development experience, including creating compelling financial narratives, developing pricing strategies, and supporting competitive positioning through quantitative analysis.
Essential skills include stakeholder communication to present complex financial analyses to both internal teams and external clients, along with project tracking capabilities to monitor actual performance against projected value creation.
Experience with performance measurement frameworks, KPI development, and ongoing value realization tracking is critical for success in this role.
Preferred technical and professional experience
Ideal candidates will have direct experience with Private Equity financial analysis, including familiarity with PE value creation methodologies, EBITDA improvement tracking, and operational performance metrics commonly used by investment professionals.
Strong preference for candidates with consulting firm financial analysis experience, particularly in developing business cases for operational improvement, technology transformation, or strategic initiatives within PE-backed companies.
Preferred qualifications include experience with middle market financial modeling, understanding of buy-and-build value creation strategies, and knowledge of PE portfolio company performance monitoring.
Additional valued experience includes competitive analysis within consulting markets, pricing strategy development for professional services, and experience supporting sales processes through quantitative analysis.
Knowledge of ERP implementations, cloud migrations, business process outsourcing, or other technology transformation financial modeling is highly desirable, along with understanding of how these initiatives drive measurable value creation for PE portfolio companies and their investment returns.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
