In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

Core Responsibilities1. General Ledger Configuration & Maintenance

  • Configure chart of accounts, account groups, retained earnings accounts.
  • Set up and maintain general ledger master data.
  • Manage automatic postings, document splitting, and G/L validations/substitutions.

  • Open and close fiscal periods.
  • Ensure timely month-end and year-end closures.
  • Support balance carry-forward activities.
3. Integration with Other Modules
  • Ensure seamless G/L integration with:

    • Accounts Payable (AP)
    • Accounts Receivable (AR)
    • Asset Accounting (AA)
    • Controlling (CO)
  • Work with MM (Materials Management) and SD (Sales & Distribution) teams for correct posting flows.
4. Reporting & Analysis
  • Design and run financial reports using SAP standard tools (e.g., F.01, FBL3N, FAGLL03).
  • Support external and internal audit requirements.
  • Assist in the creation of customized financial statements.
5. User Support & Issue Resolution
  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) for G/L-related issues.
  • Analyze and resolve posting issues or integration problems.
  • Provide training and support to finance users.
Project-Based Responsibilities6. SAP Implementations & Upgrades
  • Participate in blueprinting, testing, data migration, and go-live activities.
  • Gather and document business requirements related to G/L.
  • Perform unit and integration testing for G/L scenarios.
7. Process Improvements
  • Identify opportunities to streamline G/L processes and automate tasks.
  • Implement best practices and ensure SOX compliance or other regulatory standards.
8. Change Management & Documentation

  • Maintain documentation for configurations and functional specifications.
  • Work with change management teams to deploy G/L enhancements safely.

Required education

Associate's Degree/College Diploma

Preferred education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

• Deep knowledge of SAP FI, especially G/L and financial reporting.

• Familiarity with controlling (CO), taxes, and fixed assets is beneficial.

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA is a plus.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS, GAAP).

• Analytical thinking and good communication skills.
