OpenSearch Engineer

Introduction

Software engineering role focused on open-source and distributed systems, particularly around DataStax AI PaaS, OpenSearch, Apache Cassandra, and Langflow

Your role and responsibilities

• Develop new features, enhancements, and bug fixes on DataStax AI PaaS (built on OpenSearch, Cassandra, Langflow).
• Create bi-directional integrations between OpenSearch and Apache Cassandra.
• Collaborate with internal teams and open-source communities.
• Apply solid engineering practices (architecture, testability, scalability, maintainability).
• Contribute to and foster growth in the OpenSearch community.

Required education

Bachelor's Degree

Master's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

• Fast iteration with tradeoffs between quality and delivery speed.
• Strong experience building distributed and high-throughput systems.
• Deep knowledge of Java and JVM-based open-source projects.
• Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, and software design.
• Strong coding skills in Java; Python or Golang is a plus.
• Experience solving concurrency and distributed computing problems.
• Experience with at least one major public cloud provider.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Prior open-source contributions (especially to OpenSearch or ElasticSearch).
• Experience with Git, Docker, and Kubernetes.
