Lead Tools Engineer - Devops (Mainframe)
Introduction
As an IBM zTools team member, you will use the latest tools and technologies available to deliver state-of-the-art software solutions for the zTools migration program. You will be responsible for ensuring that software components are expertly designed, tested, debugged, verified, and ready for integration into IBM's zTools software suite, helping organizations improve their business outcomes in the global marketplace.
This role executes the tasks required to develop or test the zTools product portfolio to ensure it functions according to specifications and client requirements and meets the business needs. Development and testing activities cover all aspects of the product/system including function/component, system, performance and regression.
Successful candidates will have a strong desire to work through all phases of the software development lifecycle. A foundational understanding of software development principles and testing methodologies such as the Agile Software Development Lifecycle, with a high degree of adaptability, drive, and willingness to accept new challenges is a must.
Your role and responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of DevOps accelerators, tools and automation effort
- Implement GenAI solutions for quicker adoption of DevOps
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends, implementing creative solutions to drive business value
- Implement and maintain state-of-the-art CI/CD templates, ensuring full compliance with industry and regulatory frameworks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative products
- Provide direction, coaching, and mentoring to increase team capabilities
- Ensure effective communication and integration planning for swift issue resolution
- Deliver against established goals and objectives
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Demonstrated track record of success as an Automation Lead Engineer or similar role
- Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills
- Ability to partner seamlessly with cross-functional teams for shared success
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Technical Skills:
- 10+ years of industry experience
- 6-8 years of experience as an automation engineer in a mainframe environment
-3-5 years proven experience with IBMs CI/CD processes and tools: Mend, Twistlock, OSS, Sonarqube, secure pipeline service and Tekton
- 3-5 years proven experience in IBMs product development organization as lead devops engineer
- Proficiency in Groovy,Python, Bash, and Shell
- Experience with Git/Github,Jenkins, Tekton, Travis, CodeScan, SonarQube and PMD engine tools
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Mainframe Application development knowledge
- Mainframe System programming knowledge
- Configuration-as-Code development (Ansible)
