Infrastructure Administrator
Introduction
The IBM mainframe (Z Systems) is responsible for most credit card transactions and is used by the many of the top insurers, banks, retailers, and airlines. IBM z/VM® is an operating system with highly secure and scalable hypervisor and virtualization technology designed to run Linux®, z/OS®, z/VSE® and z/TPF virtual machines as well as Red Hat® OpenShift® on IBM zSystems™ and IBM LinuxONE servers. z/VM provides a highly secure and scalable environment for efficiently running critical Linux applications, with support for more Linux virtual servers than any other platform in a single footprint.
The z/VM team is a worldwide team, primarily located in Poughkeepsie, NY with extended team in Bangalore, India. All phases of the software life cycle are performed within this team, including the design, development, test, performance, as well as supporting the product in the field with customers. Agile methodologies are used throughout the life cycle.
We are looking for qualified software engineer candidates to be part of our IBM Z Systems team, to help us take z/VM virtualization to the next level on the mainframe
Your role and responsibilities
We are seeking a mid-level system administrator to join Linux on Z software development team who has adequate expertise in the below area.
o Installing, testing, and configuring hypervisor and its associated software, including subsystems on LPAR(logical partition)
o Managing the overall hypervisor environment, including resource allocation, storage management, and performance monitoring
o Maintaining multiple LPARs and SSI system across all processors

o Configure related products likeTCP/IP, SSL, RSCS,PVM
o Diagnosing and resolving issues related to hypervisor and its components
o Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect the hypervisor environment, including access control and data protection.
o Creating and maintaining documentation for the hypervisor environment, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
o 5-10 years of experience in software engineering, system administration with very good understanding of fundamentals of hypervisor and virtual machines.
o Must have hands on experience in setting up and configuring hypervisor and Virtual machines.
o Experience working in Unix/Linux environment and basic Linux administration skills.
o Experience in authoring build scripts with Jenkins or Travis or Tekton.
o Experience with problem determination, root cause analysis and debugging in hypervisor/VM environment.
o Good experience working with tools like Git.
o Experience creating automation using scripts (Shell/Perl/Python, etc.) and using tools like ansible/Chef/Puppet.
o Experience in delivering projects using Agile methods and tools such as Jira.
o Good understanding of the hypervisor and its interaction with hardware.
o Experience in managing the storage devices.
Preferred technical and professional experience
o Experience in working on IBMs z system and hypervisor or similar environment
o Comfortable in Linux/unix development environment - commands/shell, Libraries and managing the development/performance system environment & Linux Administration.
o Strong team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to work effectively in a global team environment
o Proven command over the English language, both written and verbal
o Experience in audit and compliance
