In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking senior & experience IT Architects to lead the design and implementation of one of the largest hybrid cloud application modernisation projects with our Public Sector clients. In this role, you will provide technical leadership for migrating existing applications to the cloud and for building new cloud-native solutions that meet complex enterprise requirements.

You will combine deep architectural expertise with hands-on technical skills to deliver innovative, tailored solutions, acting as a trusted advisor to clients and guiding them through their journey to modern, scalable, and secure cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural, consultative, and engineering support throughout customers' cloud migration and modernisation journeys.
• Apply industry insight to deliver innovative solutions tailored to client needs.
• Lead enterprise transformations from requirements through delivery and deployment, ensuring overall solution integrity.
• Act as a trusted advisor to Public Sector clients, building strong relationships and fostering collaboration.
• Design hybrid cloud solutions and their integration with existing on-premise applications.
• Collaborate effectively in multi-supplier "rainbow teams" or within fully internal delivery teams.
• Ensure solution quality by applying technical leadership across application, infrastructure, integration, security, and data architectures.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
• Comfortable with Microservice architectures and a range of cloud, DevOps, and integration technologies.
• Experience delivering hybrid cloud complex systems integration projects.
• Background in both large-scale waterfall and agile projects.
• Hands-on professional with a proven track record of keeping skills up to date, ideally supported by recognized certifications.
• Broad experience in designing and delivering technical architectures (application, infrastructure, integration, security, and data).
• Knowledge of public cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Strong understanding and delivery experience in cloud-native architectures.
• Extensive experience using agile delivery methods (Scrum).
• Good understanding of scaled agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS).

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Strong knowledge of system design and delivery.
• Experience with Java and JavaScript frameworks (Spring Boot, React, Angular, J2EE).
• Familiarity with enterprise integration technologies (Kafka, MQ, IBM Streams, ESBs, ETL, etc.).
• Knowledge of enterprise-level persistence technologies (Oracle, Postgres, DB2, NoSQL, Redis, Graph, etc.).
• Experience with estimation techniques (top-down, bottom-up, planning poker, etc.).
• Skilled in architectural languages or frameworks (UML, Zachman, TOGAF).
• Understanding of automation in development, testing, and operations contexts.
