Your role and responsibilities

The FinOps Associate, in tandem with FinOps Consultants, work with Apptio Cloudability Customers to understand their business objectives and strategic initiatives, then combine those insights with their knowledge of the Cloudability platform and proven FinOps best practices to lead the FinOps strategy for the broader organization.

The mission of the FinOps Consultant team is to be thought leaders for not only our customers but the rapidly emerging space of FinOps. The FinOps Associate is a diverse role that requires the employee to fan between big picture strategic thinking and grounding themselves in the customers' data from the Cloudability platform.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills after given direction by the Lead FinOps Consultant and can work through the analytical lifecycle but requires support from team members to check for analysis gaps
  • Strong understanding of the Cloudability platform and can identify which customer FinOps use cases can be solved directly in the platform
  • Strong interpersonal skills and can work with customers and different stakeholders but is not expected to manage escalations or handle difficult customer conversations.
  • Brings customer insights back to the broader working team and solicits feedback to hone their skills in the space
  • Provides input to engagement timeline for deliverables but is not required to define the full engagement timelines on their own
  • Requires some level of oversight on enterprise accounts or can execute against defined engagement agenda on Strategic accounts with high level of oversight from Senior or Team Director

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Demonstrate low levels of self-orientation. Build trust with clients by showing them you put them first, not yourself.
  • Ask questions to understand why. More value is provided by the consultant through"problem definition" than "problem solution".
  • Give options (in a non-confrontational way) Our role is to help clients understand so they can decide, not decide for them.
  • Develop the confidence to admit what you don't know. It shows honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Actively listen. Listen for what isn't being said by the client, as well as what is.
