Events & Skills Program Coordinator (IBM Z)

Your role and responsibilities
The IBM Z Skills Program Coordinator will provide critical operational and event support for IBM Z's global skills programs, including Z Career Connection Events, the IBM Z Mainframe Career Depot initiative, and global academic engagement activities. This role will ensure smooth execution of programs by managing event logistics, maintaining strategic contact lists, tracking deliverables, and providing administrative and project coordination across multiple work-streams.
This is a highly visible role that interacts with internal IBM teams, clients, academic institutions, professors, and students, to strengthen our mission: Building the next generation of mainframe talent worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
Z Career Connection (ZCC) Event Coordination:
- Plan and execute both virtual and in-person ZCC events in collaboration with program leads
- Manage event logistics including scheduling, invitations, session development, and follow-up
- Coordinate speaker preparation, event materials, track attendance, engagement, and other tasks as assigned. Compile reporting on events
IBM Z Mainframe Career Depot Support:
- Monitor platform metrics, compile analytics, and survey results
- Review and approve candidates in the tool
- Additional support as needed
University Engagement:
- Maintain an up-to-date global database of university contacts, academic programs and faculty connections
- Support outreach to institutions for event participation, program collaboration, and curriculum engagement
- Prepare engagement summaries and reports for leadership visibility
Program Administration & Coordination:
- Provide scheduling, meeting coordination, and follow-up support for program work-streams
- Maintain shared resources, contact lists, and program documentation
- Support geo leaders in all programs, preparation, materials, follow up and reporting
- Assist in drafting internal communications, status updates and executive-ready summaries
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred education
Master's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Experience as a program/project manager
- Strong organizations skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and collaboration tools (Teams, Canva, Monday)
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, global environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional, client-facing attitude
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Experience coordinating corporate or academic events
- Familiarity with higher education engagement and/or career services
- Knowledge in working with metrics and data tracking for program reporting
- Advanced skills in Microsoft tools. (excel, PowerPoint, Word)
