Your role and responsibilities
As a QA/Test Engineer in IBM's Power Systems Assurance organization, you will work on systems that drive the future of computing testing hardware and firmware for IBM's industry-leading products. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Testing Execution
- Execute functional, system, and regression testing.
- Perform system hands-on and automated tests in the hardware components (processors, memory modules, adapters) to identify defects and usability issues.
- Analyze failures and improve system reliability.
- Driving adoption of test automation and exploratory testing practices.
- Defect Management
- Document and report defects clearly.
- Use tools like JIRA, Bugzilla, or GitHub to track and manage issues until resolution.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with global development teams for early defect detection.
- Participate in design and test case reviews to provide QA insights.
- Supporting lab efforts to set up systems and specificts configurations.
- Support customers and field engineers with technical solutions
- Continuous Improvement

- Recommend and implement process improvements for quality and efficiency.
- Contribute to automate test suites and simulate customer environments.
- Maintain detailed test processes and results.
- Provide reports and metrics to stakeholders.
- Contribute to develop and document test plans and procedures.
- Contribute to internal and external code repositories.
Required education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Understanding of client-server architectures and networking protocols.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Familiarity with UNIX environments (Linux, AIX).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration.
- Detail-oriented and proactive.
- Accountable for team and individual results.
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Understanding of Software Development Life Ccycle.
- Experience with scripting languages for test automation (Python, Java, JavaScript).
- Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (EWM, ETM, JIRA, TestRail, GitHub).
