Introduction
IBM is seeking to hire an experienced Engineering Project Manager. The Engineering Project Manager will work with the IBM Hardware team based in Yorktown Heights, NY as it seeks to add capacity in Yorktown and expand to a new lab on the IBM campus in Poughkeepsie, NY. The position will initially be based in Yorktown with occasional travel to Poughkeepsie but will transition to being in Poughkeepsie, with occasional travel to Yorktown.
The Engineer will need to have experience managing semiconductor clean room construction, cleanroom operation, and the installation of semiconductor equipment. The Engineer will manage projects being performed by IBM Global Real Estate (GRE) for the hardware departments and interface with the existing Yorktown process, equipment and technology teams to ensure the new lab meets the needs going forward.

Once the new lab is constructed, it is envisioned that this role will transition to a facilities operational leadership role in the new Poughkeepsie lab.
Your role and responsibilities
• Oversee the design and planning of new cleanroom lab construction and building renovations.
• Collaborate with IBM GRE and Construction management firms.
• Collaborate with design, engineering and architectural firms.
• Collaborate with lab owners and tool owners on tool selection, usage, and operation to ensure ultimate operational requirements are satisfied.
• Coordinating timeline of equipment/tool purchases and installations.
• Collaborate with construction trades professionals.
• Read & interpret construction designs / drawings and create value add to those designs.
• Create cost and project schedules.
• Knowledge of building systems: mechanical, electrical, supply air, exhaust, cooling/heating, life & safety systems.
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Experience in planning a new facility or expansion and how to size and upgrade building systems (such as electrical, exhaust, water, cooling, etc.).
- This should include how equipment usage will load facility and building systems such as electric, cooling water, exhaust, etc.
- Experience should include installation of semiconductor equipment and hook-up requirements
- Ability to write specifications, converse technically with vendors, create equipment installation schedules, drive equipment installations, collaborate with equipment users and drive equipment start-ups.
Preferred technical and professional experience
- At least 5 years experience in facilities planning or operations
- At least 5 years experience in semiconductor tool layout, purchase, and installation
