CTO for Industry Operations Offering

You'll collaborate with client stakeholders and internal partners to understand the business problem and requirements, constraints of the system to facilitate, iterate and document the design and adoption of a hybrid cloud model.

As a strategic CTO / Senior Chief Architect to lead the technology vision and architecture for our Industry Operations and Automation offerings within Business Operations service line, with a focus on scalable, cloud-native solutions. This role will drive innovation across sectors such as banking (e.g., KYC, loan operations) and insurance (e.g., claims handling, policy servicing) by integrating automation, AI, data-driven workflows with clients legacy application. Key deliverables include defining the reference architecture, setting technical direction for new capabilities, driving build vs. buy decisions, and ensuring alignment with security and compliance standards. The candidate will work closely with our ecosystem and partners, asset engineering, and industry teams to deliver outcome-focused, enterprise-grade solutions.

Your primary responsibilities include:

• Strategic Advisory for Integrated Solutions: You will act as a trusted advisor aligned to industry trends that develops the framework and integrated solutions that meet the customer's business needs.
• Collaborative POC Execution and Solution Development: Collaborate with members of the client and IBMers team to define and execute proofs of concept and minimum viable solutions.
• Hands-On Solutions Architecture Ownership: Own the solutions architecture plan while being a "hands-on" builder in a client-facing engagement.
• Entrepreneurial Innovation for Client Success: Champion an entrepreneurial mindset and deliver unique value by leveraging industry and technology expertise to drive innovative strategies to accelerate clients' success.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (required)
• 15+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with at least 5+ years in a senior architect role
• Proven experience managing large-scale industrial business operations with technology integration
• Experience in digital transformation in operational environments (e.g., Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, IoT, etc.)
• Track record of aligning technology strategy with operational efficiency, cost, compliance and productivity
• Deep understanding of:

  • Proven experience leading digital transformation, automation, and IT infrastructure optimization in high-volume service operations
  • Background in managing client-facing technology (CRM, contact center platforms, data analytics, etc.)
  • Industry operations application landscape
  • Agentic Automation and workflow automation
  • Data analytics and AI/ML in industrial settings
  • Cybersecurity in operational technology (OT) environments
  • Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with ERP, MES, SCADA, and other operational systems
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations (e.g., ISO, OSHA, FDA, depending on sector)
  • Experience ensuring cybersecurity in industrial control systems
  • Understanding of supply chain risk and business continuity planning

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Technology Management, or related field (preferred)
