In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Software Developer you'll participate in many aspects of the software development lifecycle, such as design, code implementation, testing, and support. You will create software that enables your clients' hybrid-cloud and AI journeys.

Your primary responsibilities include:
* Responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing applications running on IBM z/OS systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions that support critical business operations.
* Develop, test, and maintain applications on IBM z/OS using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and other mainframe technologies.
* Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
* Perform code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning of z/OS applications
* Collaborate with system analysts, QA testers, and operations teams to ensure seamless deployment and support
* Maintain documentation for programs, processes, and procedures
* Participate in incident resolution and root cause analysis for production issues
* Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards

Required education

Associate's Degree/College Diploma

Preferred education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in z/OS application development (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS)
• Strong understanding of mainframe architecture and batch/online processing
• Familiarity with version control tools and change management processes
• Ability to write efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Amenable to work on a client dictated shift (day, mid, night).
• Open to work on any of IBM locations (Quezon City or Cebu).

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Experience with REXX, IMS, or Assembler is a plus
• Exposure to Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
• Knowledge of performance monitoring tools and techniques
• Familiarity with integration between mainframe and distributed systems
• JLPT N1-N3 Certification
