Your role and responsibilities
As an associate level Business Consultant at IBM, you will help IBM Clients solve some of their most challenging business problems, capitalize market opportunities and understand leading technologies and the impact they can have on traditional business processes.
If you see yourself as an original thinker who wants to drive progress, grow your network and further your career, a Business Consultant role is for you.
In your role, you may be responsible for:
• Learning and adopting consulting skills and business knowledge to effectively integrate packaged technology into the client's business environment.
• Translating client's business needs into business requirements and participating in the production of solutions to drive business value.
• Working with clients to refine or design their business strategy while working in an agile collaborative environment.
We get it... Navigating your career can be challenging. With so many roles, what do you apply for? We're here to help. When you apply to this general associate consulting opportunity, based on your skill sets, interest and strengths, we align you to one of the following consulting role specialties:
• Understanding of Financials and Procurement:
• Solid knowledge of procurement and finance processes. Familiarity with NextEra's procurement process is a strong advantage.
• Process Mapping and Documentation:
• Ability to map processes clearly using flowcharts and related methodologies.
• Experience documenting business processes and workflows in a structured and traceable way.
• Process Approval and Implementation Coordination:
• Responsible for gathering formal approvals for defined processes. Once approved, coordinate with technology teams to define and implement solutions, using tools such as UML, token diagrams, or other formats-depending on whether a third-party vendor is involved.
• Stakeholder Analysis and Process Actors Mapping:
• Conduct thorough research and documentation of all actors involved in each process step. This includes working across platforms like Confluence, ServiceNow (basic end-user knowledge is helpful), and other enterprise tools and portals. Consolidate information in a centralized repository.
• PoC Process Mapping and Scalability Readiness
• Support the mapping and documentation of all processes related to Proof of Concept (PoC) initiatives, as this will be essential to manage scale and complexity.
• Currently, PoCs following NextEra's defined processes may take up to 45 months to complete depending on the solution. Given that NEER is aiming to have a large number of PoCs finalized by the end of 2026, proper documentation and process control will be critical.
• Without this structure in place, the implementation and management of all these PoCs could become unmanageable at scale.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
• Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with multiple stakeholders across business and technical areas. Ability to align diverse interests and drive consensus around process and system improvements
