The AI Center of Excellence is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join our team. In this role, you will lead the architectural design and technical strategy for advanced AI solutions built on IBM's Watsonx platform and
pretrained models such as Granite. You will define scalable, secure, and high-performance architectures on IBM Cloud, collaborating closely with Technical Account Managers, Developers, UX/UI Designers, and other
stakeholders to deliver impactful, innovative AI solutions.
Your role and responsibilities
• Design scalable, secure, and maintainable AI and cloud-based solutions
• Establish architectural frameworks, technical standards, and best practices for AI development
• Create and maintain technical roadmaps for AI implementation
• Provide architectural oversight and technical direction for complex AI projects
• Review and approve designs, identifying and mitigating architectural risks
• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks for AI
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure compliance with architecture and technical excellence
• Produce detailed architecture documentation and technical specifications
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• 7+ years of software development, with at least 2 years in developing and deploying AI/ML solutions, particularly generative AI models
• Expertise in AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI)
• Experience with LLMs and generative AI, including prompt engineering and RAG techniques
• Hands-on with model deployment and fine-tuning (e.g., Granite, Mistral, Llama 3)
• Strong cloud architecture and microservices design experience
• Proficient in backend development (Node.js, Python, Java), RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures
• Skilled in distributed systems, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and orchestration tools
• Deep knowledge of cloud platforms, Kubernetes, Kafka, object storage, and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiar with SQL/NoSQL databases for AI workloads
• Strong background in cloud security, compliance, and data protection best practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of development and documentation
Preferred technical and professional experience
• Hands on experience with the Watsonx product portfolio
• Proficiency with IBM Cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, and AI-specific offerings
• Proven track record in large-scale AI solution implementation
• Skilled in performance optimization and scalability design
• Background in hybrid cloud architectures
• Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks
• Expertise in API design, infrastructure as code, and automation
• Strong technical documentation and diagramming skills
• Understanding of AI governance and responsible AI principles
• Proficient in agile software development practices
• Familiarity with emerging AI technologies and architectural patterns
