Lead RF Research Engineer

General Description:
The Mixed Signal Solutions department at HRL Laboratories is a skilled team focused on integrated circuit design, advanced packaging, signal processing, and integration of complex mixed signal systems for commercial and government R&D. We seek an experienced candidate to lead technical and programmatic efforts in developing high dynamic range, low noise, densely integrated mixed signal systems. This role requires expertise in high-speed (up to 10 GHz) RF and digital signal analysis, including component-level and system-level electrical analysis of complex integrated systems.

Essential Duties:
Manage tradeoffs in system development, including RF performance, thermal-mechanical with theory-driven analysis.

Lead signal modeling, experimental hardware design, and analysis of complex experimental data.
Organize and lead multidisciplinary R&D projects.
Mentor team members, maintain vendor and partner relationships, and collaborate with internal leads.

Required Skills:
Over 8 years' experience in high-performance mixed signal system design, analysis, and testing, focusing on RF or high-speed digital systems.
Expertise in experimental design and evaluation of interconnect/integration technologies.
Proven ability to develop vendor and partner relationships.
Familiarity with advanced packaging, IC processing, and mixed signal applications.
Broad knowledge of thermal-mechanical design, semiconductor processing, signal integrity, and circuit modeling.
Skilled with high-speed interconnect characterization tools (VNA, TDR, oscilloscope).
Proficient with system engineering, Microsoft Office, technical writing, and working in deadline-driven environments.
Able to work independently and collaboratively.

Required Education:
MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field. Candidates with different experience levels may be considered for other positions.

Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain security clearance. Active SSBI preferred.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $163,150 - $209,088 + bonus + benefits.
