We are now looking for a Transport & Logistics Specialist with a one-year fixed-term employment contract at Hitachi Energy, Grid Integration business unit in Vaasa, Finland. In this role, your main responsibilities include planning and coordinating project deliveries, booking shipments, and managing export/import documentation to ensure the company's operational needs and compliance requirements are met. You will work closely with both local and international suppliers on a daily basis, and collaboration with internal stakeholders will be at the core of your tasks. You will also have a unique opportunity to actively renew and develop procurement and logistics processes, contributing to continuous improvement.
While your main location will be the Vaasa office, your responsibilities may also extend to our Northern Cluster business units in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, or Ireland. Above all, we value team players who are eager to learn new things and collaborate effectively with others.
How will you make an impact
- Prepare project-specific logistics plans in close collaboration with the project team, ensuring all requirements are clearly defined and met.
- Organise and monitor project deliveries, coordinating transportation from vendors to collection points and/or construction sites. This includes planning and managing storage needs throughout the process.
- Ensure goods are delivered according to contractual terms, at the right place, at the right time, and at the right cost, fully meeting operational and compliance requirements.
- Support sales by providing logistics expertise and solutions for customer projects, including quotations, delivery schedules, and transport options.
- Track, develop, and report monthly KPIs to support continuous improvement and transparency.
- Provide timely information to stakeholders and implement corrective or recovery measures if suppliers are late or issues arise during delivery.
- Create, manage, and maintain all shipping documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Your background
- Degree (B.Sc. or equivalent) in Business Administration or Economics.
- Good knowledge of logistics, project management, and supply chain management principles, with hands-on experience in practical applications.
- Understanding of international logistics rules (e.g. Incoterms) in sea, road, and air transport modes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, adapting your approach to suit different situations and needs.
- Proactive attitude, self-motivation, and a strong sense of ownership.
- Open to change, feedback, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, quickly adapt to changing situations, and consistently meet deadlines even under pressure.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling you to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable navigating complex organisational structures and working across different business units.
- Fluent written and spoken English is a prerequisite. Knowledge of Finnish and/or Swedish is considered an advantage.
- Comprehensive skills in SAP and MS Tools, enabling efficient management of logistics processes and data.
