Technical Sales Experienced Professional

Brussels, Belgium

We are looking for an experienced Service Sales Engineer in the segment Grid Automation for our business in the Benelux countries.

You should be an experienced specialist in substation automation, protection and control and grid automation, with expert technical and commercial knowledge of this business. Preferably with experience of Hitachi Energy Grid Automation portfolio, like Hitachi Energy MicroSCADA, related protection and control, SLA's and Cyber Security. Experience in technical sales, tendering, cost calculations, EU tendering procedures and sales contracts. You will be responsible for the technical sales and communication with our key industrial and utility customers, our product and system factories, our engineering and project management and 3rd party suppliers.

This is a hybrid role, with possibility to work from our offices in Zaventem, Rotterdam and from your home-office. You report directly to the Market Manager Grid Automation Benelux.

We are looking for an individual with a passion for creating an exceptional customer experience. An ideal candidate will have excellent customer service, analytic and account management skills along with understanding and experience in Grid Automation products and systems. The aim of which is a significant contribution to the growth and success of our department.

Your responsibilities:

  • Organizing regular customer meetings and provide status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Acting as an advocate for the customer and effectively communicating feedback to and from technical teams dispersed globally.
  • Translate the information from technical inspections into a detailed service proposal.
  • Preparation of quotations and calculations, for new business, service business and SLA's. You ensure the preparation of technical and financial aspects of the offers, indicating prices and trading conditions. You ensure the needed technical support to you colleagues during technical sales meetings with customers. You have frequent contact with our factories in various countries to ensure that price and delivery negotiations run smoothly.
  • Active pursuit and follow-up of leads during the tendering process.
  • Research of customer technical specifications and requirements with current or potential technical specifications of company products.
  • Develops potential technical specifications, pricing considerations and contract requirements.
  • Work with internal Hitachi Energy tools like Salesforce, tendering and configuration tools.
  • Managing and owning all aspects of customer success, while maintaining a holistic view of customer satisfaction.
  • Identifies own training needs and undertakes Hitachi Energy training programs as directed by Management.
  • Maintain close contacts with the Front End Sales team and provide technical support to Account Managers during technical evaluation meetings with customers.
  • Maintain close contacts with the global Hitachi Service Lead Centers and daily with the local service organization.
  • Identify potential suppliers for equipment and materials needed for the proposal and evaluate technical offers from suppliers on alignment with specifications.
  • Follow and comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies such as "Don't look the other way", Lean 6 Sigma and Hitachi Energy hazard reporting.

Your background:

  • Proven experience (ideally five years plus) in a role as Technical Sales Engineer in Grid Automation.
  • At least a bachelor's degree in the field of electro/energy technology, or have an equivalent level, based on a work experience in a technical (or technical sales) position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Good level of both oral and written Dutch and French is a plus.
  • Engineering, commercial, organizational, communication and account management skills.
  • Ability to quickly establish customer relationships and trust and to provide an outstanding customer experience.
  • Combine a strong and commercial insight with a result-oriented attitude, while applying the required interpersonal skills.
  • Solution-oriented and like to think along with the client.
  • Enthusiastic, stress-resistant, accurate and a real team player.
  • Pro-active attitude, self-motivated and adaptable.
  • Prioritize tasks and deliver on deadlines.
