We are working closely with our Executive Management, BUs, Regions and Functional Area sustainability teams, HSE managers, product managers, R&D, marketing and communication managers, as well as other stakeholders, in order to drive and implement our company's sustainability agenda.

The Sustainability Data Analyst reports to the Global Sustainability Reporting Manager, and will be responsible for the environmental, social and governance (ESG) KPIs and metrics for the organization from a global sustainability reporting perspective. This is a key role in driving best in class integrated ESG data reporting across Hitachi Energy, and leading our ESG data strategy, quality and audit trail documentation, as well as related improvement initiatives on a global level, and in collaboration with stakeholders across the organization.

How you will make an impact:

  • Develop, implement and drive ESG data governance framework and "sourcing" strategy in collaboration with our partners from IT System Architecture and Data Management
  • Lead initiatives to enhance overall maturity of the ESG data reporting processes
  • Oversee ESG data collection, consolidation and analysis as part of the annual sustainability report, and ensure quantitative disclosures respect the reporting methodologies and data quality attributes
  • Ensure an auditable trail, related controls and documentation to enable at minimum a limited assurance process
  • Develop, implement and maintain an internal performance dashboard to steer BU and functional sustainability implementation progress towards our medium and long term objectives
  • Lead regular benchmarking of key targets, commitments and KPIs against peer competitors and bring in suggestions for further improvements
  • Coordinate with reporting team, working closely with relevant internal stakeholders, external agencies and third party audit assurance firms where appropriate
  • Support country and regional teams in developing ESG reporting for quantitative data disclosures aligned with global practices
  • Analyze and investigate data related key issues, trends and gaps in the sustainability reporting program and develop improved processes

Our ideal candidate profile:
  • Bachelor or Master degree, preferably Sustainability or Computer Science, AI, Environmental Science, Economics, Business, Finance or Risk Management
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a Sustainability-reporting related field, ideally within an international publicly listed company. Previous experience in the Energy industry is a plus.
  • Solid understanding and experience with data dashboards, reporting and disclosure processes (ideally Sustainability-reporting), in the forms of internal and external reports, ratings and other requirements
  • Broad understanding of measuring and managing sustainability impacts, risks and opportunities in a commercial context, supported by deeper knowledge of at least one of the following areas: net zero, supply chain sustainability, social impact, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), ethics and integrity etc.
  • Knowledge of global reporting standards and industry best practices including CSRD, EU Taxonomy, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), SASB, TCFD, EcoVadis and CDP is a plus
  • Strong analytical skillset and the ability to perform quantitative tasks with speed and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills developed through previous work in a global organization
  • True passion for sustainability, a strong work ethic, and the eagerness to learn in a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment.
  • High proficiency in English, both written and spoken; any additional languages are considered an advantage.
