The Opportunity

Hitachi Energy is looking for an experienced Site Manager to support the successful delivery of large-scale high-voltage substation, grid infrastructure, and power transmission projects across Spain, Europe, and international markets.

Combining strong technical expertise with proven site leadership capabilities, you will act as Hitachi Energy's senior on-site representative, overseeing subcontractors, driving health and safety performance, supporting project cost control, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and strategically important energy infrastructure projects while receiving specialist training on Hitachi Energy technologies and systems, including Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), within a global organisation at the forefront of the energy transition.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day site activities across assigned projects.
  • Act as Hitachi Energy's primary on-site representative, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements.
  • Lead site execution activities for large and complex EPC substation, transmission, and grid infrastructure projects.
  • Manage and supervise subcontractors, including civil, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning contractors, ensuring high standards of quality, productivity, and performance.
  • Coordinate site interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and customer teams.
  • Verify completed works and ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, quality requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify risks, delays, and issues affecting project delivery.
  • Develop mitigation and recovery plans where required to maintain project schedules and key milestones.
  • Provide early warning notifications to the Project Manager regarding schedule impacts, commercial risks, additional costs, and change requirements.
  • Support project financial performance through cost monitoring, estimate-to-complete (ETC) forecasting, and identification of cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage monthly subcontractor certifications and support contract administration activities.
  • Review contractor performance and ensure site resources are aligned with project requirements.
  • Take ownership of site Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance, working alongside HSE specialists when assigned or independently managing HSE responsibilities where required.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities and support successful project handover to customers.
  • Support customer meetings, project reviews, inspections, and audits as required.
  • Produce daily and weekly site reports and maintain accurate project records through digital reporting systems and project management tools.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Hitachi Energy standards, customer expectations, and applicable local regulations.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Share best practices and provide guidance to less experienced site personnel where appropriate.
