Secondary design Engineer (Protection)
The opportunity:
Project Engineering focuses on designing, communicating, and implementing an operational plan for completing an engineering-based project including: Preparing designs, project controls and specifications, schedules, cost estimates, production, transportation, installation, testing and/or commissioning of new infrastructure, facilities, equipment, etc. Monitoring progress and performance against the project plan; taking action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Identifying, developing, and gathering the resources necessary to complete the project. May include preparing engineering standards, designs and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors An Entry Professional (P1) applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education. May require the following proficiency: Work is closely supervised. Problems faced are not typically difficult or complex. Explains facts, policies and practices related to job area.
How you'll make an impact:
- Engineering Documentation: Prepare Key Line Diagrams, Protection Interface, and Feeder Block Diagrams.
- Tender Review: Analyze tender documents and technical specifications and prepare Design Intent Documents.
- Protection SLD: Develop Protection Single Line Diagrams showing principles, relays, meters, and Functional Design Standards/Descriptions.
- Signal and Trip Matrix: Create signal lists, trip matrices, logics, and interlocks. Review vendor drawings and documents.
- Schematic Diagrams: Prepare schematics for interface equipment in Control & Relay Panel schemes.
- Circuit Diagrams: Develop circuit diagrams for new and existing setups, especially for retrofit projects.
- Cable Management: Prepare Cable Block Diagrams, relay ordering information, Cable Schedules, and BoQ estimations.
- Wiring Lists: Create lists for wiring, termination, and labeling for panel manufacturing.
- Drawing Modifications: Identify and modify existing drawings using standard markups.
- Interface Knowledge: Essential knowledge of Primary Equipment, Bay Controller Units, SCADA, RTU, and Teleprotection.
- Auxiliary Power Systems: Design Low Voltage AC Panels, DC Panels, Auxiliary Transformers, Battery & Charger Sizing, and ACDC Cable Sizing.
- Secondary Designs: Expertise in AIS & GIS secondary designs.
- Coordination: Work with various departments for design progress and completion.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct technical risk and opportunity assessments.
- Estimation: Estimate engineering hours and validate inputs.
- Specifications: Prepare Functional Design Specifications, Technical Specifications, General Arrangement Drawings, Circuit Diagrams, System I/O Schedules, Test Specifications, and O&M literature.
- Project Configuration: Use Hitachi energy configuration tools and software.
- Testing Platform: Set up procedures and reports for Factory Acceptance Testing.
- Project Management: Provide progress information to Project Managers and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Design Review: Participate in design review and lessons learned processes.
- Team Contribution: Contribute to the team's success and development of work processes.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Should have 4-7 years of experience in relevant fields.
- Should have proficiency in 2D CAD design tools, E3, modern protection & control systems software & hardware tools.
- Should have standards Knowledge: Familiarity with IEEE, IEC protocols (101, 103, 104, 6185).
- Should have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Should have substation Knowledge: Experience in substation tendering and project engineering activities.
- Should have commitment to high-quality digital solutions.
- Should have experience in Secondary CRP Design, Relays/IEDs configuration.
- Should have knowledge in testing and commissioning for design schematics.
- Should have strong design capability in Protection Systems/Power Systems.
- Should have high technical experience with strong coordination skills.
- Should have proficiency in spoken and written English.
