R&D Senior Engineer Mechanics 80 - 100% (f/m/d)

The opportunity
Join our dynamic Business R&D team in Turgi, where we develop cutting-edge medium-voltage frequency converters and HVDC subsystems. You'll be part of a collaborative environment with six power electronics engineers and three mechanical engineers, working on innovative solutions that have a global impact. This role offers flexibility in work arrangements and international exposure, with project teams collaboration spanning Poland, Sweden, and China.
How you'll make an impact
- Drive the mechanical development of medium-voltage frequency converters and HVDC subsystems in a R&D environment
- Collaborate on international R&D projects across multiple countries
- Work closely with project leaders, sponsors and suppliers to align on technical goals
- Conduct on-site technical troubleshooting (approx. 10% travel)
- Apply mechanical engineering expertise to support product development and innovation
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure seamless integration
- Test and validate new mechanical components and systems
- Contribute to the integration of new technologies and continuous improvement initiatives
Your background
- At least bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
- Proven experience in mechanical design and development, ideally in power electronics or related industries, with tools like SolidEdge, NX, SAP and Ansys
- Familiarity with medium- or high-voltage systems and converter technologies is a plus
- Hands-on experience in lab-based product development and testing
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and thermal management
- Experience across the full product lifecycle, from concept to production
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional, international environment
