The Opportunity
As R&D Engineer, you will join the Technology Center South Europe, part of the
global Technology organization of Business Unit Transformer. As member of our R&D team located in Córdoba (Spain), you will contribute to the execution of projects by studying the thermal behavior of power transformers through thermal simulations and providing support to the development team, enhancing platform improvements and ensuring availability within the thermal domain.
How you will make an impact
- Propose and develop new technologies, products, and processes for core type transformers.
- Lead and manage R&D projects self-driven on time, on budget, and with the required quality following Hitachi Energy internal standards and processes.
- Maintain existing and developing new technical standards and design tools for transformers.
- Assess production processes and proactively identify gaps and areas of improvement.
- Support factories troubleshooting in thermal domain area.
- Provide comprehensive support to design tools developers by recognizing key features, preparing detailed technical specifications, and conducting thorough solution testing within the thermal domain.
- Develop, manage and expand relationships with stakeholders, internal functions, Corporate Research Centers and external relevant parties (e.g. customers, universities). Providing proposals for possible partnerships.

Your background
We are looking for a degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace or industrial engineering. (MS or PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics will be valuable).
- More than 3 years of experience, either in R&D projects, engineering or University research.
- Ability to effectively use external and internal standards and regulations.
- Awareness of intellectual property considerations in the research and development process.
- Experience in mathematical modelling and in scripting for process automation.
- A structured, problem-solving, self-driven, solutions-oriented approach
- Ability to provide software specifications containing all types of documents (written descriptions, calculation sheets, drawings, 3D CAD models).
- Basic knowledge of software testing and delivery processes.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge and expertise in power transformer design, including the necessary technical areas and industry standards.
- Experience with project management activities, especially Agile methodologies and IT development related to using Azure DevOps.
- Spirit of innovation, out of the box thinking.
- Excellent abilities in teamwork in international teams with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
