Project Engineer

Milan, Italy

Technical lead for all engineering activities in assignments classified as low engineering complexity. Ensure that activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

Responsabilities:

  • Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform task or sequence of tasks, for conventional projects with few complex features. Executes assignments using established solutions
  • May act as a design authority for a particular engineering discipline and completes engineering assignments for that discipline.
  • Collaborates on project installation, commissioning and site activities, clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors. Provides technical support to commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Assists in creating proposals for projects through coordination of proposal documents and engineering estimates. Assists in performing engineering risk analysis before submitting proposal.
  • Supports Contract Manager in issuing claims (new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.)
  • Creates work plans and cost estimates in one's area of responsibility.
  • Evaluates risks and opportunities, strategizes mitigation of one's engineering projects/programs. Supports the Project Manager in overall project risk and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actions. Identifies opportunities for repeating and new business.
  • Oversees the creation of subcontracts and manages subcontractors jointly with other involved functions, including supply chain management.
  • Collaborates and networks with engineering colleagues within Hitachi Energy. Shares best practice across different projects and disciplines.
  • Utilizes standard processes, tools and techniques. Ensures that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements.
  • Leads, supervises and coordinates teams in all engineering disciplines (both in-house and outsourced) on low complexity projects. Leads single or multi-discipline engineering teams of less than 5 resources.

Your background:

  • Bachelor/master's degree in electrical Engineering.
  • Fluent in English & Italian.
  • Able to work with different and multiple stakeholders, proven expertise in coordination of projects and people.
  • Proven experience of 7 years in GIS (Gas insulated switchgear) and/or AIS (air insulated switchgear) and/or power plants project engineering in EPC business.
  • Excellent command of English language
  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Problem solving oriented.
