Project Engineer

Join Hitachi Energy - Shape the Future of Substations Through IED Configuration Excellence.

The opportunity

Be part of a dynamic team delivering innovative Substation Automation Systems (SAS) for utility companies, transport projects, and energy-intensive industries across Norway. This role is centered around the configuration of Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) and protection relays-key components in modern substation control and protection systems.

At Hitachi Energy, you'll work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to projects that are critical to the energy transition. If you have the right skills and experience, this could be your opportunity to step into a senior role.

How you'll make an impact

  • Work with the latest tech: Dive into advanced IED configuration and IEC 61850 standard, helping shape the future of smart grids and digital substations.
  • Make a real impact: Support high-profile infrastructure and energy projects across Norway, contributing to a more sustainable and resilient energy system.
  • Grow professionally: Thrive in a strong professional environment with clear opportunities for career development and advancement.
  • Collaborate across disciplines: Join a team of skilled engineers and specialists who value teamwork, innovation, and technical excellence.
  • Enjoy flexibility: Depending on your interests, you can also work on circuit diagram design, control & protection calculations, and technical sales support.
  • Balanced travel: Travel is limited and mostly related to IED testing at site-giving you a good balance between fieldwork and office-based engineering.
  • Global reach, local strength: Be part of a company with deep roots in Norway and access to international expertise, tools, and resources.

Your Background

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Technical College Engineering.
  • Expertise in IED/protection relay configuration and standards (e.g. IEC 61850).
  • Experience from electrical design for substation control and protection systems.
  • Background as Test or Commissioning Engineer from Power Sector solutions is a strong advantage.
  • Fluent in a Scandinavian language and English.
  • Driver's license.
