Primary Engineer
The opportunity:
HITACHI ENERGY TECHNOLOGY SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED is seeking a Primary Design Engineer to contribute to the development and optimization of power systems solutions. This role involves conceptualizing, designing, and analyzing primary equipment within the energy infrastructure, ensuring performance, reliability, and adherence to industry standards.
How you'll make an impact:
Develop detailed designs for primary equipment such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and other high-voltage components, considering electrical, mechanical, and thermal aspects.
Perform technical calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with specifications and international standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI).
Prepare and review technical documentation including design specifications, drawings, bill of materials (BOM), test plans, and installation guidelines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, secondary design engineers, manufacturing, and testing departments to ensure seamless integration and successful project execution.
Conduct technical reviews and provide engineering support during manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning phases.
Identify and implement design optimizations to improve product performance, reduce costs, and enhance manufacturability.
Participate in root cause analysis for design-related issues and propose effective corrective actions.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements in power systems design.
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
3-7 years of experience in primary design engineering within the power transmission and distribution industry.
Strong understanding of high-voltage equipment design principles, including insulation coordination, short-circuit calculations, and thermal management.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and simulation tools
Familiarity with relevant international standards and codes (e.g., IEC 62271, IEC 60076, ANSI C37).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate in a global team environment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
