Power System Studies Engineer - PCS
The opportunity:
Power Systems Simulations is a key role in the Hitachi Energy Power Conversion Solutions that design and supply green energy solutions, from microgrids to utility scale, based on Battery Energy Storage Systems.
The Power Systems Modelling Specialist will operate in team of globally located Engineering Specialists to create complex static and dynamic models and simulations of the distributions systems integrating the Hitachi Energy Portfolio component models and third-party ones.
The Engineering Specialist team role is to provide crucial insights into the technical viability of customer solutions based on standardized HE architectures integrated with the third-party devices. The specialists will also play a key role in supporting the Sales process for Batteries and Power Conversion topics.
How you'll make an impact:
- The Engineering Specialist - Power Systems Modellingwill be responsible for providing expert input and developing Power Systems models and simulations on: Static and Dynamic Simulation Environments. In particular, the environments will include Dig Silent Power Factory, PSCAD, PSS®E, ETAP, MATLAB. The Engineering Specialist will collect and share the best practices and optimized solutions deriving from the modelling and simulation activities.
- An important part of the activity will be dedicated to the analysis, modelling and simulation of the requirements of the applicable Grid Codes.
- The Engineering Specialist will interpret component and systems specifications, manuals, electrical drawings, and product requirement specifications, guidelines, and application notes of the designed well validated solutions.
- Drives application and development of best practice across the entire value chain to promote a culture of excellence in operational performance. Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives within the PCS teams. Works closely with Solution Owners, Engineering Specialists, other PCS organizations, and sub suppliers to optimize and improve overall solutions.
- Bidding - Will work closely with the Regional Tender Specialist and will be responsible for providing practical & applicable solution for client and ensuring that technical requirements are met.
- Maintains compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations while monitoring and reporting progress and results. Assesses risks and safety hazards and implements plans to ensure people and equipment safety.
- Leverage PCS support from Regional Tender Specialists, Engineering Specialist, the Hubs' delivery/execution teams and INOPC Support to develop specification of systems and solutions to meet customer needs. Motivates and trains the other technical specialists.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:
- Candidates from IIT/NIT and having prior publications is an added advantage
- 5 years of experience with specific technical expertise in power system modelling and simulations.
- Having good knowledge about modelling and simulation environments: Dig Silent Power Factory, PSCAD, PSS®E, ETAP, MATLAB, Homer Pro Scripting in Python.
- Having good knowledge of at least one national Grid Code
- Detailed know how of standards, regulations, and market requirements
- Knowledge of the global power market
- Strong technical background, preferably in the power engineering or energy industry Experience and mindset on customer satisfaction
- Pragmatic, focused on achieving results, at the same time giving necessary attention to detail to ensure consistent, correct, timely completion or risk review process
- Problem solving, open minded, resolute, open to discussion
- Comfortable to work in a very dynamic delivery environment in a challenging market
- focus on "getting the job done and done right", teamwork, leadership, negotiation skills.
- Connecting with other people easily Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
